Hong Kong Academy is thrilled to be hosting the SENIA Conference from 22-24 February 2019. SENIA is a network of educators, professionals and parents across Asia dedicated to supporting individuals with special learning needs. SENIA believes that by working together, we will provide a network to combine our strengths to help raise awareness and advocate for the individuals in our lives.
This year's theme of Transformational Learning in Inclusive Schoolschallenges all of us to consider how we might contribute to inclusivity in our own educational context. In 2000, HKA was founded with a mission to provide an inclusive educational environment for students in Hong Kong. Growing from three students in a pre-kindergarten class, we are proud to have celebrated seven years of graduating classes that have embodied our sustained commitment to maintaining a diverse community of learners at all grade levels. We believe that a rich educational experience can be both rigorous and inclusive, and we value opportunities to explore the ways in which schools in Asia can support one another on the journey of inclusion.
Conference Goals:
To live our mission as an educational leader and engage with other schools through a rich professional growth experience;
To contribute to the conference programme by presenting sessions on school practices;
To share our passion for and commitment to creating communities in which mutual benefit and pathways to individual excellence are embraced for all learners in Asia;
To develop our own knowledge and understanding of current research in the areas of supporting students with diverse learning needs, English language learning needs and gifted and talented needs;
To celebrate the richness of inclusive communities and encourage schools who are also on the journey of inclusion.
